Relining Services in Edmonton for Your Loose or Ill-Fitting Dentures
Factors such as weight loss, aging, bone resorption, loss of teeth, and disease or illness can cause your dentures to feel loose. If your dentures are in good condition, relining is an excellent way to improve their fit and function. Relines only affect the fit of your denture and will not change its appearance or aesthetics. Northview Denture Clinic provides denture relines in Edmonton.
There are two types of denture relines that are commonly available:
Hard Relines A hard reline offers an effective way to enhance the fit of your existing dentures. Hard (or processed) relines require two appointments: The first appointment involves a detailed impression of your ridge using your existing denture; at the second appointment your newly relined dentures are inserted. Relines can usually be completed in one day.
Soft Relines Soft relines are often used for patients who have severely receded or flat gums that do not tolerate the stress of dentures, patients who have chronic soreness, or patients who have gums with prominent or sharp, bony areas. Permanent soft relines can often be completed in one day.
Consult your denturist to learn which type of reline is better for your needs.
Denture Repairs
Denture repairs may be required if breaking or chipping occurs on your existing denture, or if one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture due to natural tooth extraction. Dentures that require repairs may be indicative of underlying problems, including age of the denture, worn teeth, or poor fit. Your denturist is the professional who can best explain how to prevent denture breakage from occurring.
If your dentures need repair or replacement, we can help. Northview Denture Clinic offers professional repairs for full and partial dentures. Many denture repairs and adjustments can be completed while you wait.
